"we have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful. it's that women are strong."

- Laura Stavoe Harm

Giving birth is something you'll remember for the rest of your life

Have you ever felt like...

  • You know you want to do *something* to prepare for birth, but you don’t know where to start
  • You know your body can do this; but you also have some doubts!
  • Everyone else seems to have their own (v strong) opinions about pregnancy and birth and you'd like to form your own informed opinions
  • Part of you just wants to take an "ignorance is bliss" approach, but you also want to find out everything you can because you know that will calm your nerves more than doing no prep.
  • You'd really like to share this experience to the fullest with your husband, and make sure he knows what's happening and how to support you
  • You want to feel calm going into your birth, but all the stories you hear sound so hectic, dramatic, and even traumatizing.
  • You know your entire life is about to change and you'd like to have an idea of what to expect once baby arrives
  • You'd love to find out what things you *can* do to influence how things unfold, and not leave it all up to chance.

Preparation + support matter. They make the difference between a birth that feels out of control + confusing and a birth that feels strong + satisfying. With unbiased information, you can make choices that are right for you. With a solid birth team, you can handle any situation that comes your way.

"Lauren was both our doula and childbirth educator. She was just what we needed, throughout the whole process. We loved how informed she was and how she gave over the information with so much passion and excitement. It’s so clear that she loves what she does, and it makes the whole experience so positive. She was extremely nonjudgemental and got to know us as people and friends, not just as clients.

She was also so supportive and checked in on us all the time, giving us space to process and reflect on appointments, decisions, and information we received about the baby. She helped us to have the birth we hoped for and that’s something we’ll take with us forever. We really can’t imagine going through this tremendous experience without Lauren and wouldn’t have done it any other way. We’re so grateful and highly recommend Lauren in any role, whether it be as a doula or an educator."

It would be my honor to support you on this journey

We both know there is much more to the birth experience than  getting the baby from the inside to the outside. This is a huge life event! I'd be honored to be on your team as you cross the bridge into motherhood.

"I just wanted to thank you for the incredible experience you provided for Jacob and I through your class. I think it's pretty clear I was set on getting an epidural and hadn't given much thought otherwise, I just assumed that was what I would do. Your class though has given me such perspective to really think about what I want my birth experience to be like and it has empowered me to feel like I can at least go into it trying to give birth naturally without an epidural. You have completely changed how I feel about the birth process for the better, and I have been taking much more time to prepare and learn now which I feel good about. I especially appreciate though, how balanced your approach is and I think more than I realized going into the class, your "hashkafa" (philosophy) about birth was a great fit for us. Even if I end up getting an epidural, I'm happy to feel like I would come to that decision from a thoughtful place and will hopefully feel good about it at the time and not like I failed or regret it.

Thank you for all of your guidance and unique perspectives."

about me

Hi! I’m Lauren. I believe; no I know that the birth experience really matters. This is not just another day in your life. Before my first was born, my husband and I did the bare minimum birth prep. While that birth went okay on paper, I was *not* prepared for how to navigate the hospital environment, or for what to expect once we brought our baby home. After that, I started hearing more and more birth stories. from other new moms. I was floored by the varying, and overwhelmingly negative, experiences that women had during their births.  I started to get curious about how more and better preparation could help people have better birth experiences, even if/when things out of our control came into the picture.

Fast forward to my next pregnancy and I was hooked on birth. I listened to all the podcasts, read all the books, changed care providers, and re-hired my doula. I saw the tremendous difference that more preparation and different choices made for me in that birth. As a result, when I left my corporate job in 2018, I decided to help parents like you prepare for their birth experiences. And here we are today! Professionally speaking, I am a passionate Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Body Ready Method pro, BeHerVillage Gift Registry Expert, and certified Full-Spectrum DTI doula. Personally, I am a proud wife and loving mom to four cute people.

I want every expecting mom to uncover the strength within herself that has been muffled by negative and scary cultural narratives around birth. I believe that demystifying the smart, miraculous, and incredible birth process allows people to access that confidence within themselves. I also believe that it is crucial to bring awareness to the practical realities of birthing in our healthcare system as this allows expecting parents to go into the birth as smart consumers, retaining their autonomy during this sacred life event.

I am an idealist and a realist. I know that there is no magic recipe for the perfect birth (though I really, really wish there was!). However, if you have a dream for what you want your birth to look like - own it. I want to hear about it. Let's do everything in our power to make that happen! AND - I'll walk you through everything you need to know so you can bravely change course if the need arises.

I'm so ready for you to experience your first contraction with excitement instead of trepidation - are you?

My job is to believe in you so you can believe in you, too.

You don't need to let the negative cultural birth narrative undermine the innate trust you have in yourself. You don't need to stay in the dark about your options. When we work together, you can be on your way to feeling seen, confident and prepared for the birth of your baby so you can birth on your own terms.
